We go back to season 18 day 53. It was the day Roush had his second race for our team, Roush was recently bought from FFL who decided to quit the game with his team. Roush had a good start with a 8th place in the London TT, next race to come was the Westerstede Zeitfahren. The competition was strong, but Roush was in good shape and the race fitted him well. Roush was flying that day and he won the Westerstede Zeitfahren! Manager Onie was really happy with that performance and he thought buying Roush was the best thing he had done in his carreer so far.
After his victorie in the timetrial it became quiet around Roush. After that race he didn't came closer than a 10th place in a race. It took 267 days!, almost 3 OCM-seasons before he got a result again.
Season 21 day 50, it's the day that Essex Tour starts and it's the first time Team Onie enters this tour. The team didn't had much expectations of it, but aimed for a top 5 in the last stage with captain Aldeia. Aldeia who had became captain because of Arnolds injury, since Aldeia isn't a good hiller the team decided to try to go in a break away in the first stage. After several attempts from different riders of the team, Leon Roush was able to get a small gap with the peloton, no other riders joined him in the break away and Roush still had 120km to go. He was not sure if he should continue or if he should wait for the peloton, because this break away seemed to have no chance at all. Manager Onie said to Roush that he should go on. "No guts no glory". The gap with the peloton kept growing, with a max of 5 minutes with just 35 kilometer to go. Onie knew that if Roush was able to go on he could win the stage, but with just 3 kilometer to go and a gap of just 1 minute Roush got a flat tire. Despite a quick fix he was already overtaken by the first couple riders. When he saw 'Ghida' coming he tried to stay on his wheel and he succeeded. A 7th place in the frist stage of Essex Tour! His first top 10 after 267 days.
Roush was very happy with his result, but manager Onie already looked forward to the time trial. However Roush hadn't scored a result in a time trial for a long time, he knew Roush should be able to beat some guys in front of him in the GC. Roush did a good time trial, but he wasn't able to earn some money and points. Roush came in 10th....., but when Roush and Onie looked at the ranking they LOL'ed. A 4th place in the overall ranking and they knew the last stage wouldn't give big time gaps.
Roush thought on retiring after this season, but now knowing he still was able to get results in the highest division he signed a contract for another two seasons.
